How to apply as a teacher (complete guide)
Applying is completely free and takes about 20 minutes. Before you start, watch the video tutorial (3 min 28 s): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=grZpqZ-pqz4 The PDF guide is available for free on the Become a teacher page: https://ecoleversity.com/enseignants
Prepare before you start: • ID document (required): national ID card, passport or residence permit — a clearly readable photo or PDF, 8 MB max (JPG, PNG, WEBP or PDF). • Diploma (optional): it strengthens your application, same formats. • Profile photo: clean, smiling, neutral background. • A quiet, well-lit spot: door closed, no fan or TV, facing the light. • Charged device and a good connection: phone or computer with camera and microphone. • About 20 uninterrupted minutes: let your family know before you start.
The 3 application steps: 1) your profile — photo, introduction, city, subjects and grade levels; 2) verification — your documents and your videos; 3) the screening questions — 3 questions you answer on video.
The videos we expect: • Presentation video (30 to 90 seconds): who you are, your background, how you teach. This is the video parents will see on your profile — make it count. • Demonstration video (3 to 5 minutes): film yourself explaining a concept from your subject, as if to a struggling student. This is the heart of your application. • 3 answers to the screening questions (90 seconds max each): answer naturally, facing the camera.
The recording timer — understand it before filming: you have two options, "Record now" (film directly) or "Upload a file" (send a video you already filmed). If you record on the spot, you first go through the preview, then press "Start recording". A red dot and a timer appear: the timer shows the time you have LEFT — 1 min 30 s for the presentation and for each question, 5 min for the demonstration. When the timer reaches zero, the recording stops by itself (message: "Durée maximale atteinte" / maximum duration reached) and whatever was filmed is what gets submitted. So: prepare your ideas before pressing record, keep an eye on the timer while you speak, and wrap up before the end.
Re-recording: for the 3 screening questions, if you get cut off too early you can re-record before submitting (the "Re-record" button on the review screen).
Rules for a good video: a calm, tidy background (a neutral wall is enough), no noise (door closed, fan and TV off, family warned), face the light (never with your back to a window), speak clearly without rushing, and look at the camera lens, not your screen.
After submitting: record your 3 answers, tick the consent box, then press "Send my application". Our team reviews your file carefully: you will receive an answer by email within a few business days. You can follow the progress on your "Application status" page.
